April Showers - II

II

Namishka was back. And not alone. She had her husband Amey with her. In these two days Aisha had tried her level best to complete the rearrangement of furniture and vases along with the wall decors. Though she was happy with her work and nervous of her provided insights which she very gracefully termed as improvisations.

Aisha noticed Amey not being a bit of bothered or interested in what was going on. Still to gather a little hope she asked out to him.
“Hello Amey. I’m Aisha, your interior decorator. How do you like the way your living is shaping up?”

“Nice to meet you Aisha, but as a matter of fact you shouldn’t be bothered about taking an opinion from a person who is of no value to anyone else in this house.”

‘What did he just say? How am I supposed to react on this? Is he saying this because he’s physically challenged? I mean he’s one of the richest investment bankers of the town with a celeb wife. What could be so wrong with him?’ Aisha wondered. She decided to look down for a while and by the time she looked up to Amey again, he was already walking, climbing the stairs with little difficulty.

Namishka broke Aisha's lost gaze and asked her to walk her through the work done in the week. Thankfully, she liked the outcome and was happy with the living looking extra bright and peppy. “It’s just the way I like it!” Aisha smiled at her and, as soon as she turned back, rolled her eyes.

Just when Aisha thought it was time to sip on some lemonade, Namishka stopped her. “Could we go through the designs for both the bedrooms today itself? I’m out of town for the next whole week again and I don’t want you to waste more time reworking stuff all the way again, you see?” Aisha nodded at her and prepared herself to get grilled. “Sure. After you.”
After 3 hours of continuous struggle and rigorous customizations, Namishka finally approved the designs. Aisha was not very happy but she pretended to be. In the evening, while she was clearing the bedrooms with the team, she bumped into Amey again.

“Hi”, she smiled. He didn’t bother to reciprocate. “How can you work for such a difficult woman? You must be really strong or smart, I guess.” Aisha was in a fix again. “Namishka is really proactive. She contributes in every aspect around her”, she answered, to which he instantly spat, “Yeah every aspect except for the alimony which I have to pay her as a token of being cheated on.” Aisha looked at Amey, the first time in his eyes for a tad longer. He had hazel brown eyes. She kept mum and looked down as soon as she regained her senses, trying to concentrate only on her business. Pin-drop silence surrounded them. She tried to relieve the situation.

“Amey, I actually needed some suggestions from you, if you don’t mind.” He smirked. She continued, “I would be really happy if you make me understand what you’re looking out for your room, sorry, I mean the room…”

“Yeah, yeah! I get it. The room where I spend most of my day.” She looked blankly at him.
“If you’re insisting, I would just like to say that you know your job well and all I need in the situation through which I’m going is a small place in this house where I can feel at home.”
Before Aisha could speak further, Amey started walking away.
